Cute Dog Music
It's tail-waggin' good!

During his days at Florida State University, Rick Davis was reminded at a Winter Music Symposium of the musical sounds one could make, decided he had to "make that sound", and enrolled in Music School there.

Much later, not long after Rick began playing Hammered Dulcimer, he attended the Upper Potomac Dulcimer Fest in Harper's Ferry, WV.  At a session in the pub one night, a local fiddler by the name of Robby was playing.  He was a wealth of Old-Time fiddle tunes, and one of the participants asked him how he knew so many tunes.  His reply was something to the effect of, "That's my job.  I learn the tunes from the old-timers and pass them on."  At hearing that statement from Robby, Rick's heart cried out inside him, "I want to do that!"

Cute Dog Music is Rick's vehicle for doing just that - learning the tunes of the old-timers of various cultures - American, Irish, Scottish, English, to name a few - and passing along the tunes and the love of the music to others, as well as "making that sound".

Rick is an award winning Hammered Dulcimer player, composer and teacher located in Chattanooga, TN, who performs on Hammered Dulcimer, teaches workshops on Hammered Dulcimer, and is producing a documentary on the Hammered Dulcimer in Co. Antrim, No. Ireland.
